Supplier Provides Financial Education To Employees

Issue: 2009mar

St. Paul, Minnesota-based supplier Crystal D (UPIC: CRYSTALD) wanted to help its employees get a better handle on their personal finances, so it began offering a 15-week series of courses called Financial Peace Workplace Edition from finance guru Dave Ramsey.

Since March 2, Crystal D employees have been engaged in a 15-week personal finance course, learning how and why to save money, live debt-free and prepare for retirement and college expenses.

“I expected to become better informed in the area of financial freedom and what that means,” says Debbe Kjellsen, customer service manager. “I am learning exactly what I expected to learn. If you manage your money the right way, you can have financial freedom. In today’s economy, it is more important than ever to know how to manage your money – everyone should take this course.”

Bridget Dahlgren, marketing coordinator, completed the Workplace Trainer Certification program of Financial Peace Workplace Edition to facilitate the courses at Crystal D.

“It is such a joy to see excitement on the attendees’ faces as they implement a financial plan into their lives and begin their journey toward financial peace,” says Dahlgren. “Our goal is to have 90 percent of our employees attend this course.”

Dahlgren adds that Crystal D plans to offer the course on a biannual basis, with future courses open to employees’ friends and family members.

“It is great to work for a company who cares about the financial success of its employees,” she says. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to bring this course into the lives of my co-workers.”
