Father And Son Team Up To Start New Golf Supplier Company
Issue: 2009may
Industry veterans Hugh and Mark Hobbs have launched Culver City, California-based supplier Pacific Coast Golf. The company is the result of the father and son team seeing a need for a full-service promotional golf supplier on the West Coast.
“It is interesting how timing always remains the essential key when it comes to capitalizing on opportunities,” says Mark Hobbs, president and CEO. “My father and I analyzed the potential for creating a West Coast golf supplier in January during The PPAI Expo. We made a few calls to friends who manufacture golf products, and within two weeks PCG was officially incorporated.
“It is truly my honor to have the opportunity to work with my father again,” he adds.
Mark Hobbs previously led Los Angeles, California-based supplier Del Ray (UPIC: DELR0001) and before that was president of Covington, Tennessee-based supplier World Wide Lines (UPIC: WORLDWID). Hugh Hobbs spent the past years at Hixson, Tennessee-based supplier Gold Bond, Inc. (UPIC: GOLD0008) as vice president of sales for Gold Bond Golf.
The father-son team last worked together in 2002, when Mark hired his dad to oversee the sales of the golf division while Mark worked as Gold Bond’s VP of sales and marketing.
Hobbs says Pacific Coast Golf is the first and only West Coast promotional golf supplier authorized to sell all major brands of golf balls and branded accessories. Current lines include Titleist, Pinnacle, Cobra, FootJoy, Wilson, Callaway, Top-Flite, Nike, Bridgestone, Precept and more.
“During my career in the promotional golf industry, I have been associated with good companies and great people and have shared numerous industry awards,” says Hugh Hobbs, vice president. “To have the opportunity to create Pacific Coast Golf with Mark is the culmination of a life-long achievement. Our goal is to make your experience with PCG unequaled in the promotional products industry.”
In addition to its California headquarters, PCG has a centralized sales office in Nashville, Tennessee. “We feel that having a balanced operational model, along with multiple distribution points, will offer us the flexibility needed to provide our customers with the best possible service regardless of their geographical location,” says Mark Hobbs.
