Industry News: Motivation Show Opens Today In Chicago
Issue: 2009sep
The Motivation Show kicks off today in Chicago, Illinois, and runs through Thursday afternoon, and Managing Director Pete Erickson says he and fellow show organizers are excited about the three-day program that combines education, exhibits and netoworking.
“Our conference program has grown to more than 70 seminars in five different learning tracks, and we’ve added two morning keynote events and two luncheon keynote events to further expand the education offering,” he says.
One learning track is geared specifically toward promotional consultants. This track offers seminars designed to help professionals build their business and expand their product lines.
Major merchandise brands and leading destinations have returned to the exhibit hall for 2009, says Erickson, and PPAI has a presence on the show floor as well.
Total exhibit space this year is down about 30 percent, but he attributes the reduction to significant fall-off on the size of the international travel pavilions. Preliminary counts for attendee registration show numbers that are about even with attendance in 2008.
Erickson adds that the show is attracting more new attendees who are staying longer than those who typically visit the exhibit hall exclusively. As a result, he says, “We are planning to continue to expand our conference and networking opportunities in the future to attract more new and qualified attendees.
“In fact, for 2010, we are announcing a new show schedule with an education day on Tuesday, followed by exhibits and Wednesday and Thursday, in the new state-of-the-art West Building at McCormick Place,” says Erickson.
Erickson says he believes attendees will leave the show having learned the latest product and destination information, as well as ‘how-to’ information on incentive and recognition best practices.
“Today more than ever, companies have to do more with less, and The Motivation Show is the best place to meet with the leading brands and destinations in the marketplace while learning from industry experts how to connect employee engagement, customer loyalty and financial results.”
