Industry News: Newton Reflects On 100th Anniversary Celebration

Newton, Iowa-based distributor Newton Manufacturing Co. (UPIC: NEWTON) hosted several events during the week of September 20 to mark its 100-year milestone. More than 1,000 sales representatives, retirees, local dignitaries, suppliers, business partners and employee family members visited Newton to join in the celebration.

“It was a great week of celebration for the entire company,” says Lee Cochran, Newton Manufacturing president. “It’s important for us as a company to remember how we arrived at this point—identifying a client issue, creating a solution for the issue and noting the client’s recognition of the value provided.”

Newton sales reps attended an exclusive tradeshow featuring more than 50 preferred suppliers. PPAI President and CEO Steve Slagle, CAE, along with PPAI Board Chair Sherri Lennarson, MAS, senior vice president of Iowa City, Iowa-based distributor Bankers Advertising Co. (UPIC: BACADV), shared insight into Newton’s role in the industry. After the show, sales reps heard a motivational speech from industry expert Ron Baron.

Open houses gave visitors a chance to tour Newton offices and meet the employees. Several historical exhibits were on display showing products produced and sold in the past century, and historical photos depicting the Newton story were displayed throughout the building

“Our employees did a tremendous job in preparation of this week’s events and were excellent ambassadors of Newton Manufacturing to each of our many guests,” says Cochran.
