Industry News: Promotional Product Sales At Nearly $4 Billion In Canada
Issue: 2009dec
A Promotional Product Professionals of Canada (PPPC) study showed industry sales in the Great White North have reached $3.97 billion a year, growing an average of 7 percent every year for the past two years despite a struggling economy.
The increase is attributed in part to the effectiveness and flexibility of promotional products, says PPPC Chair Lynda Gallant, CAS.
"While this represents a drop from the 13 percent compound annual growth rate our industry has enjoyed for the past 15 years, it is still indicative of the growing popularity of promotional products as effective marketing and communications vehicles,” says Gallant. "We are very satisfied with this indicator, considering the overall performance of the Canadian economy."
Gallant adds that the nation’s use of promotional products has expanded beyond marketing and brand-building. Employers spent $754 million on promotional products for their employee programs such as safety and education, service awawrds, events and incentive programs
The study, commissioned by PPPC every two years, was conducted by Association Resource Centre Inc., an independent Ottawa-based management consulting firm, to measure sales, economic activity, employment and other aspects of the promotional products industry in Canada. Respondents include suppliers and distributors of promotional products in Canada.
