Industry News: Seven Suppliers Apply For QCA Membership; Five Others Join

Issue: 2009dec

Seven more promotional products companies have applied to join Chicago, Illinois-based Quality Certification Alliance (QCA). QCA grants its seal of approval to member companies who complete independent third-party audits and comply with standards based on a combination of state and federal laws, international standards and industry-accepted best practices.

“The QCA Accreditation program provides the guidance these companies need to build comprehensive and effective internal compliance programs,” says Brent Stone, QCA executive director.

The new candidates are:

•Miami, Florida-based supplier Bullet Line, LLC (UPIC: BULLET)
•Oxnard, California-based supplier ETS Express (UPIC: ETSE)
•Bronx, New York-based supplier Garyline (UPIC: GARYLINE)
•Largo, Florida-based supplier Hit Promotional Products Inc. (UPIC: HITP0001)
•Mount Vernon, New York-based supplier Jetline (UPIC: jetline)
•Attleboro, Massachussetts-based suppliers North Attleboro Jewelry Co. Inc. (UPIC: NORTP003)
•Salt Lake City, Utah-based supplier SnugZ/USA (UPIC: SNUGZUSA)

“During the past year, we have spent a great deal of time and effort developing and executing a voluntary internal compliance and corporate social responsibility program,” says Bill Schmidt, Jr., vice president of Hit Promotional Products. “Joining QCA brings us the knowledge and guidance coupled with the rapidly growing industry-wide appreciation for compliance and the highest level of standards for product safety.”

Brandon Mackay, MAS, president/CEO of SnugZ USA agrees. “Ensuring our practices provide our distributor customers and their end-user clients with safe products is our number-one goal,” he said. “We believe QCA has the best certification process, which gives us the tools to put our goal into action.”

Additionally, the following five supplier companies have received accreditation from QCA:

•Trevose, Pennsylvania-based Broder Bros. (UPIC: BRODER)
•Evanston, Illinois-based Dard Products, Inc. (UPIC: TagMastr)
•New Hyde Park, New York-based Gordon Sinclair
•Bridgeport, Connecticut-based Prime Resources Corp. (UPIC: PRIME)
•City of Industry, California-based Sweda Company LLC (UPIC: SWEDA)

These firms join fellow founding members Barton Nelson, Inc., BDA, Inc., Gemline, Leed’s and Logomark in reaching this milestone. QCA accredited members have endorsed a self-certification, completed a rigorous self-assessment, and then submitted their headquarters and their supply base to a third-party audit. The QCA board uses a scorecard representing the performance of the applicant and its supply chain on the third-party audits as the foundation for granting accreditation.

"It's great that more suppliers are getting "QCA Certification". QCA should now make the next step of providing distributors and end users information on what "QCA Certified" means. "
