PPAI News: Simon Bailey Delivers A Brilliant Message At Tuesday’s Luncheon

Issue: 2010jan

Tuesday’s keynote luncheon started out brilliantly as speaker Simon T. Bailey asked the audience to turn to their neighbor and say, “You look marvelous.” He then led the sold-out crowd in a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” for PPAI chair Sherri Lennarson, MAS.

It was an apropos beginning to Bailey’s interactive talk, “Release Your Brilliance: The Four Steps To Transforming Your Life And Revealing Your Genius To The World.” Brilliance, described by Bailey as a process—a marathon, not a sprint, ”is a creative energy or a creative spark, that flows from the inside out.”

Each of us needs to “upgrade our personal verbal software” because words create and shape how we think. “Every word coming out of your mouth about this industry is shaping the future,” he explained. “You are the industry’s thought leaders. You make the difference. People (clients) want to connect with confident men and women. Be the solution-finders. Solve problems and your customers will become your unofficial marketing department.”

Woodstock, Georgia distributor, John West, CAS, of Express Impressions, (UPIC: exi) says he thought the session was great. “I loved what he had to say and how he said it. I wish I could have given him a higher than excellence rating.”

Terry Baum, owner of Clever, Missouri distributor, Baum’s Promotional Products & More, LLC (UPIC: Baum) agreed. “It was very motivating. Uplifting. I can, I can—we can. That’s what we (as an industry) need to hear.”
