Poken Partners With MMI To Launch Social Networking Products In U.S.
By: Staff Issue: 2010jul
Lausanne, Switzerland-based Poken S.A. has formed a strategic partnership with Spokane Valley, Washington, supplier MMI International Trade (MMI) (UPIC: mmiline). MMI will assist Poken in entering the U.S. market with Pokens, small devices that enable people to share their social networking information by touching them with another Poken.
“We at MMI are thrilled to have this rare opportunity to bring Pokens to our industry,” says Herb Nelson, president of MMI. “This is the right product at the right time.”
Poken’s “social business card” fits with MMI’s existing technology product line, which includes “smart” USB devices, mobile and computer accessories, Nelson says.
Poken S.A. and MMI will work together to form a group of authorized distributors within the promotional products industry for Poken’s devices and the new pokenPROMO and pokenEVENT branded service offerings. MMI will offer Poken only to authorized distributors. Because of the broad scope of the Poken product, an authorized distributor must go through training. Distributors will be protected by customer, geography and price exclusivity.
Social networking is gaining momentum as a primary marketing tool for business. As sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and YouTube proliferate, Poken provides a bridge between real-world and online identities. Using Poken’s brandable offerings such as pokenPROMO and pokenEVENT, promoters can reach customers with products that customers will use for an extended period of time to stay connected.
“MMI presents a great opportunity for Poken due to its extensive knowledge of the promotions industry and unique value-added sales channel.” says Steve Smith, vice president of product marketing and management at Poken S.A. “MMI is already successfully selling products that combine a physical device with an integrated online experience. We believe MMI will add tremendous scale and reach, while simultaneously providing a fantastic service for our shared customers.”
